About Megan Vinson

Megan Vinson is a PhD candidate specializing in 16 and 17th century English literature.

Her research interests include gender, animals, the body, and agency. Her dissertation is entitled Material Entanglements: Agency and the Female Body on Shakespeare's Stage and focuses on how Shakespeare depicts women's relationship to their own commodified bodies.

Her essay, "I Hate Desdemona" is forthcoming in Shakespearean Gatherings: Stay in the Conversation, edited by JF Bernard and Paul Yachnin. 

Academic Service

Megan is also interested in making the humanities more accessible. She currently teaches literature and theory classes with the Prison Neighborhood Arts Project in Chicago. She is also a special education tutor with Full Bloom, providing services to students in the Chicago area with learning disabilities. 

Outside of teaching and writing about Shakespeare, Megan loves to be with her dogs on a hike, traveling to Arizona to be with her sisters, and reading sci-fi and horror books.
